Spinning On And On

Last week we lost a true friend of the FADER family with the passing of DJ and producer Dave "Disco D" Shayman. Among his numerous musical accomplishments, Disco D was a member of Philly dancehall crew Federation Sound, who enlisted El Feco to record a tribute track for Disco D over the producer's refix of Pharell's "Frontin," which originally appeared on the Def Jamaica compilation. We're happy to present the song with much love and respect from Max, Kenny, and the rest of the Federation right here (right-click and save-as). For more Disco D music, check out this past Friday's edition of "The Let Out" on East Village Radio (made possible by Dewar's), where DJ Ayres and Nick Catchdubs played two hours of nothing but Disco D tunes, from hip-hop treats to baile funk excursions to the rapid-fire Detroit jams he was perhaps best known for. RIP.
