Judging by the covers of our new issue, downloadable now, you’d think we’d tripped into some mystical rabbit hole of white blindness and dark angels, which wouldn’t actually be too far off the mark. Our DJ-mixed podcast of music from F44 confirms the issue as one of our most intense and unorthodox yet, with quiet storms from cover stars Bone Thugs and Gang Gang Dance, wailing and droning courtesy of Explosions In The Sky and No Age, the laid back DC rap of Tabi Bonney and Wale, Beijing punk and a whole lot more. Sign up for our podcasts on iTunes to get it, or subscribe via your favorite RSS reader here. You can also download the F44 audio by itself here, and get the full tracklist after the jump.

We Missed You
- story THE FADER
Today the internets turned up a new joint by 8-Ball and MJG with 112 called “Cruisin.” And it got us thinking, what the fuck happened to 112? If you had asked us a couple years back, we would have told you that by 2007, they would have put out one more platti group album, then Slim would’ve bounced for a solo career. At this point he’d be a solo smash or two deep, maybe gearing up for a third. Welllllllllll, it hasn’t turned out that way, but it’s good to hear from old boy for the first time since we were in the studio with Killer Mike in Atlanta, listening to his shit-hot Pulp Fiction storytelling joint that throws One Tweezy’s “Cupid” for a really ill loop. It was gonna be on Killer’s album, then ended up on The Killer mixtape. We’d link you to the mixtape, if there were still mixtapes on the internets to link to. Holler at your local curbside retailer.

We know you can’t wait to hear music from the brand new issue of The FADER pop off in your earhole and we promise our newest podcast will be up shortly (workinonit!), but to tide you over, super bros Audio Archeology have made a companion mix to the Vinyl Archeology column (page 170) they wrote for the mag. The Extra Sensitive mix of funky folk gems from the likes of Linda Lewis, Delaney & Bonnie, Sixto Rodriguez and Odetta is available on their website right here. Use the download time to light some incense and change into a loose fitting blouse.

Kash Money
- story THE FADER
Until last week Kashi was that reassuringly crunchy and wholesome goodness we ate every morning with our soymilk. Our boy Harry at Pegleg did some research in Vegas, though, and uncovered a weird, bedazzled parallel universe where Kashi is a line of jeweled sneakers for streetwalking vegans. Signature Kashi shoes? The Vegetation Force and the Bean Bankroll. Turns out Alan Kashi is a hip hop jeweler turned sneaker maven (hence the penchant for glittery kicks) and the line launched last year. Is shoe Kashi Darth to cereal Kashi’s Luke? Who knows? In any case, the Kashi shoe crew promised allegiance to a higher veggie cause and that no animals were harmed in the making of their kicks. Unfortunately, the glitter tastes like shit. More pics after the jump.

Magic Tricks II
- story THE FADER
As well as being the oasis of happy hour fun in a sea of dayglo-sneaks and feathered pimp hats, Boost’s “streetwear lounge” at Magic was the unofficial artsy corner of the show. Boost showcased a bunch of their newest downloadable wallpaper art from the likes of the Claw (who was there showing off her new tome Bombshell and hosted a party at the Liberace Mansion later that night) and George Thompson with pieces from last season’s collabo art stars Retna, Saber and Revok on display too. While waiting for the ink to dry on our own masterpieces from the Hit & Run tee assembly line next door, our girl Lisa showed us how to tinker with some new new phone accessories–”tin can” speakers with artwork by Mainframe and Mint&serf.

We can’t remember if we’ve ever posted this photo of TV On The Radio’s Kyp Malone before, but we thought today might be a good time since one of our favorite dudes ever, and photographer of said photo, Jason Nocito, just redesigned his website. Jason’s shot some of our most iconic and memorable photos, and we are always excited to work with him or party with him or play records with him. We’re also pretty souped on his photo blog The Ego Has Landed. After the jump, check a small collection of some of our favorite FADER photos by our friend Jason, including a few of Gang Gang Dance and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony from our brand new issue, which is freely downloadable here.

Grinding
- story THE FADER
Maybe we’re old souls, or unlucky in love, but this video for Grinderman’s “No Pussy Blues” touches a part of our soul in ways that no young band’s can. Nick Cave has written the anthem of nerds, assholes, limpers, smellers, stammerers and kooks and the women who won’t love them, in a scant few minutes consoling wretched men and encouraging judicious women worldwide, while his band of stoic cavemen rail on behind him. Shit is bad to the bone. Plus, it’s full of animals doing it!

Art Star Wars
- story THE FADER
If you’re reading this and have A) nothing to do B) a pile of money C) a taste for galas, tell Hobson to fetch the Rolls because you’ve got a party to attend. The opening day-long preview gala of NYC’s Armory Show: The International Fair of New Art begins today on Pier 94, and if you have $1000, you can gain entry as soon as the doors roll open. For the paupers, 20 bucks will get us in starting tomorrow. It runs through Monday, February 26th, and showcases new works by contemporary artists from most of the top galleries and dealers in and out of New York. It’ll be patchy, for certain, but in terms of spotting trends and trendsetters, you could do worse than spending a day walking through. And when you see us painting kittens named Stefan on the sidewalk outside, be kind, it’s our passion.
