Somebody at the Rock The Bells Festival read our childhood diaries and booked Wu-Tang Clan and Rage Against The Machine as co-headliners this year. The first time these dudes got together for a tour, we declared it Wildest Shit We Will Ever See, and that was back when a Wu-Tang show meant maybe GZA and U-God showed up to rap a little while Mef passed joints to teens in the front row. Still, Merriweather Post Pavilion was NOT READY. In 1997, most of the Clan and all of the Rage held it together for a whole week of a couple months-long tour, and we saw it. This time, all they have to do is maintain for three shows– LA, SF, NY– not implode, not get arrested, not disappear into the wildnerness, and the kids will hopefully get a glimpse of the ruckus we witnessed all those moons ago. Probably not, since both groups have been killing us with kindness for the last several years, but you never know. Old dudes can get real cranky when they want to.
