Austin: David Vandervelde
Following the UK rock massive that was Foals, we re-upped on our Bud Lights and got situated near the front of the stage to hear shredding rock nuggets from our dude David Vandervelde. (Vandervelde recently recorded his debut album, The Moonstation House Band and you can read all about it in our upcoming ish). Vans was playing with his old friend/fellow shredder/Midwest drum god Derek (we don’t stress the last names) and two new additions on rhythm guitar and bass. It was their very first “performance” together—or, in DV’s words, their very first live “rehearsal.” We thought it sounded like more like “a live JAMHAMMER.” More geekoutery from the Levi’s/FADER Fort to come!
