David Bowie's High Line Festival Comes To NYC

After handling curator duties at the 2002 Meltdown Festival in London, it was only a matter of time before the Thin White Duke tackled another. His next will be the inaugural High Line Festival, taking place from May 9 to 19 at various locations in New York City near the High Line, the elevated rail structure that will soon open as a public space. He is handling curator duties this year, and will then help select curators in upcoming years for the event.

It comes as no surprise whatsoever that he is having Arcade Fire perform, as he has been championing the Canadian group for quite some time now. According to Reuters, Ricky Gervais will be making his standup comedy debut during the festival, as he takes the stage at the Theater At Madison Square Garden on May 19. For those unfamiliar with Gervais, go rent the UK version of The Office or Extras. You've been missing out.

Other bands performing during the High Line Festival will include the French duo Air, Laurie Anderson, Deerhoof, Daniel Johnston as well as NYC group Secret Machines. Tickets go on sale this Friday, March 30 at 10am via Ticketmaster. In the meantime, lets revisit Bowie's brilliant cameo on this season of Extras.
