On Set: Lavender Diamond’s “Open Your Heart”
- story THE FADER
Yesterday afternoon we headed to the Lavender Diamond video shoot to witness the making of peace movie magic. The video for “Open Your Heart”—Lavender Diamond’s first single from their upcoming Matador debut—was directed by the Australian singer Sia, helming her first video not for herself or Zero 7. Becky Stark, Lavy D’s central heartforce, spent the day on a street in Angelino Heights in a pink dress and teetering on a pair of rollerskates. We didn’t get the full rundown on the clip’s narrative arc, but it involves Stark giving and receiving gifts from the travelers she wobbles by. The whole thing ends with her truckin’ down the asphalt and an ensemble of shiny happy people joining in to dance alongside her. That part is glorious. See more photos after the jump.
