Audio/Video: Mommy, What’s A Blitzen Trapper?
- story THE FADER
Blitzen Trapper are hard to peg down. They somehow sound both sloppy and focused in a tied together with old string kinda way. Furthering that confusion is the one-two punch of new Blitzen media we received at FADER HQ today. First there is the video for “Devil’s A Go-Go” which captures the Blitzen Trapper aesthetic through quick cuts and the boys “playing” the song with toy instruments. We saw that and were like “okay so this is where Blitzen Trapper are going, they are totally playing up their ramshackle dudes from the woods angle” then we got a Hood Internet remix of “Sci-Fi Kid” which re-imagines the song as Ratatatat meets The Go Team including a Roxanne Shante rap (ooooookaaaaay). Totally not a direction we imagined for this band, but you know, if you’re already hard to pin down you may as well go deep into your own headspace and play around for awhile.
