Weeble Wobble

Last night at Hot 97’s “Who’s Next Live Music” series at S.O.B.’s we witnessed first hand the spectacle that New York rap has become. After straining through an assortment of New York mixtape rappers who—on the plus side—didn’t complain about the state of rap in NY and who—even better—seemed more interested in throwing hundreds of dollar bills into the audience than actually rapping a whole song (Lunch money!), we finally got to see the most beautifullest vocabullist in this world Keith Murray, supporting his new album Rap-Murr-Phobia. In between running through an assortment of classics, good-humoredly berating the audience for standing still, and yelling at Mr. Random Stand-on-Stage, he jammed hard. Keith is a showman—he jumps all over the stage and puts effort into his songs even when the audience doesn't. Plus, he brought out Erick Sermon for a Def Squad two-thirds reunion, so you know we were into that.
