Tanzanian rap group X-Plastaz released this video for "Cheza" yesterday. It documents their travels as the most (only?) known Maasai hip hop collective in the world. And while "Cheza" isn't nearly as mindblowing as their classic "Msimu Kwa Msimu", it's good in an old Slum Village deep cut kinda way with the added bonus of lil Steve and Diney's Swahili trade-off and especially Yamat's crazily awesome singing. Yamat is the Maasai in X-Plastaz with the other five members being brothers and sisters from neighboring Arusha. It also features footage of Faza Nelly, who was killed in a fight with his neighbor a year-and-a-half ago. Read all about them here. You can buy the "Cheza" mp3 at National Geographic or head to the X-Plastaz' page at Calabash.
