Live: The Last Pool Party

August 20, 2007

Sunday might have been the last official Pool Party of the summer, but it was first and foremost a great day in House Party Rap History despite the cloudy weather.
The Rub
DJs and
Baltimore Bass Connection
held it down all day, playing “Date With The Rain” as we all got drizzled, then dropping Sinden remixes and club joints.
YACHT
took the stage first, popped and locked through some fierce routines, had a little audience Q+A session, jumped into the crowd, and jammed the waterless water park.
Santogold
was up next, and we have two words: Shesus Khrist! Chicago's
Cool Kids
took it back it to back to 2088 for a minute, and
Kid Sister
continued the Fools Gold/Chi-town invasion. The
Spank Rock
crew kept it classy with some new-new dirty-dirty raps, ran the L-train on some classics, and had the crowd screaming “Hoodrat! Hoodrat! Hoochie Momma!” XXXchange showed up for with the (m)ad-libs, Santi came back for backup vocals, and Amanda Blank threw down her xxxtra raunchy verses on “Bump.” So the pool parties and dodgeball are done, but you can take solace in the fact that there will be another summer next summer and Fall is pretty sweet too. Check the jump for action snaps from the show.
