It was a tough one to predict this time round. This year's Nationwide Mercury Prize Shortlist was crammed with the cream of the crop from the UK's music scene, including Amy Winehouse, Arctic Monkeys, Bat For Lashes, Dizzee Rascal, Jamie T, Klaxons, Maps, New Young Pony Club, The Young Knives, etc. Although we were keeping our fingers crossed for Jamie T, not only because his album Panic Prevention fucking rules, but also due to this siiiiick performance at the Levi's/FADER Trading Post in Austin this past spring.
Jamie T's awesomeness was no match for the nu-rave madness of Klaxons, who one the prize this year. The award goes to the best British or Isish album of the past twelve months, and we will admit that Myths Of The Near Future is a doozy. "Golden Skans" is a badical track, so they earned it. Congrats to Klaxons for winning this year's Mercury Prize!
