The video for “Valerie,” originally an uninspiring Zutons song, popped up on Saturday morning and by yesterday afternoon cool girls were singing the chorus on random corners on the Lower East Side, just a few weeks after Ronson dominated screen time on the VMAs. But we will always remember him as that dude who sauntered in to East Village Radio every Friday night after we Let Out. Winehouse couldn’t make it to the shoot for “Valerie” but, just like on the LES, it wasn’t hard to find a couple girls who wished they had her voice.
