The influence of social networking sites just took another giant leap forward thanks to iLike and their application on Facebook. Bono recently recorded an interview with the iLike founders, which he discussed the history of a previously unreleased song that will be included on the remastered version of The Joshua Tree.
The only place to currently find the song, titled "Wave Of Sorrow," is on iLike, which caused 1.2 million people to sign up. According to TechCrunch, no press was released about the interview and new track whatsoever, as they wanted to see how quickly the news would travel virally around the internet. Of course, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that news surrounding U2 would spread quickly, but this is still a rather interesting development in the realm of online music marketing.
