At the end of a week where we already lost more than one musical pioneer, 20th Century German composer Karlheinz Stockhausen passed away at the age of 79. Born in Cologne, he explored and developed a number of compositional techniques—serialism, aleatorism—that drastically shifted the worlds of modern classical and avant garde music. His works were defined by a sense of thought-out, controlled chaos and while we might not have necessarily understood all the time, its importance never escaped us.
PS check his work "Stimmung." That always melted our minds.
