K-I-S-S-I-N-G. Downtown Music, the label that has given us releases from Gnarls Barkley, Cold War Kids, Art Brut and countless others, has taken indie Dim Mak into their home for a cup of tea. From what we understand, the new joint venture will supply Dim Mak with the infrastructure and promotional firepower to help further the reach of their releases.
Steve Aoki will remain control of his Dim Mak roster, so now his label has basically been given a booster shot of marketing steroids. So what does this really mean? At this point, we're not sure, but it will be interesting to see if Downtown's backing will help get Dim Mak's bands such as Tripwire favorites The Deadly Syndrome out to a larger audience.
