Video Journeys: We Support Change

April 04, 2008

The most inconsistently published and consistently invaluable column on TheFADER.com, Video Journeys, is back, spurred on by the news that Matthew McConaughey is reading the script for Universal's film adaptation of Magnum P.I..

Not too long ago, Video Journeys was wearing pink shoes, sort of tight jeans and a Hawaiian pullover at SXSW in Austin, Texas. Not long after that, I found out about Matthew McConaughey's new line of swimwear and swim-related paraphernalia, J.K. Livin', from his website. J.K. Livin', or Just Keep Livin' (a line from his character Wooderson in Dazed and Confused) is also the name of Matthew's production company which is in pre-production on a 2008 release entitled Surfer, Dude. Where do people surf? Hawaii. Hawaiian shirts? Hawaii. Magnum? Hawaii. SXSW? Austin, Texas. McConaughey? Austin, Texas. Selleck? Detroit, but he was in a TV movie called Concrete Cowboys which is basically like being from Austin. Just saying, inspiration can come from the most unexpected places and sometimes three dudes are just three dudes but sometimes they are cut from a cloth that inspires them. Sometimes that cloth has sleeves, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it's a headband.

All's to say, when you google yourself, McConaughey, see me riding. You were born for this shit.

And now imagine that doing this:
