For many music fans who followed alternative music in the early '90s, their first taste of the shoegaze sounds of Catherine Wheel was with their masterpiece single, "Black Metallic." It is one of those classic tracks that truly stands the test of time, sounding just as powerful as it did when we first got our hands on their 1992 full-length album, Ferment.
Although the days of Catherine Wheel have been over for several years now, frontman Rob Dickinson is still writing, recording and touring. He is set to re-release his debut solo album, Fresh Wine For The Horses, this coming Tuesday. The double-disc will feature the new track "The End Of The World" as well as an EP containing brand new acoustic recordings of a few Catherine Wheel classics. We're fortunate enough have the amazing acoustic version of "Black Metallic" for you to download. Fans of old and new will most definitely want to pick up the reissue, and this is only one of the many reasons.
He has a handful of dates coming up as well. Check them out below then download.
