You'd think that with the current steady stream of new singles flowing from The Cure, we would have seen a few music videos by now. Well, the goth grandpappies have made the decision, at least for the time being, to stop creating proper music videos. This issue was addressed on their official website, where head honcho Robert Smith said the following:
QUITE A FEW PEOPLE HAVE ASKED US
WHY NO 'REAL' NEW VIDEOS TO GO WITH THE 'MIX 13' SINGLES...
THE TRUTH IS
AFTER THE DISMAL RESPONSE
(IE THEY WEREN'T SHOWN ANYWHERE!)
TO THE LAST 'REAL' VIDEOS WE MADE
WE JUST COULDN'T WORK UP THE ENTHUSIASM TO MAKE ANOTHER LOT...
AS WE HONESTLY BELIEVE THAT WHATEVER VIDEOS WE WERE TO MAKE - HOWEVER GOOD OR BAD -
WOULD STILL NOT REALLY GET SHOWN ANYWHERE...
SO WHAT'S THE POINT?!!
Fair 'nuff. Apparently the band did get a little loaded one night and started filming their very own videos using small HD cams, so Cure TV will be bombarding the interwebs at some point once they get everything edited down. We'll keep an eye out on YouTube for these potential gems.
