Style: The Return Of Surf

July 24, 2008

For the FADER summer music issue we got deep into vintage surf, embracing our sandy roots with the same enthusiasm that Jeff Spicoli embraced pepperoni pizza. This last week at the Capsule tradeshow we revisited surf wear for spring season 2009, checking in with vintage surf line, Maui and Sons. The surf godfathers have released more dead stock awesomeness with old skool shark prints and flashy block colors, reminding us that thigh high swim trunks are just fine. Just fine indeed. Despite all of the amazing prints, one of our favorite pieces happened to be the bold printed Maui and Sons canvas pack, indulging our backpack fetish and summery beach bum attitude. At another booth we even stumbled upon these incredible issues of 80’s surf culture magazine, WET, confirming that we do indeed owe ourselves a big congratulatory slap on the back for trendspotting. More looks after the jump.
