Stylee Fridays: Amonstro Revisited

August 08, 2008

From time to time, we do like to pat ourselves on the back for showcasing independent fashion talent from all corners of the globe (Ghana, India, Thailand and if someone from Outer Mongolia wants to holler at us then that would be cool too.) Amonstro is a Brazilian label we happened upon about two years ago while sifting through pictures from Sao Paulo fashion week. The label didn't have a website at the time, but somehow we managed to track down the designers quite randomly through a series of Spanish street-art blogs. Admittedly we haven't checked in on Livia or Helen of Amonstro for a minute now, so when the design duo dropped their brand new website address into our inbox last week it was honestly like a golden nugget of Brazilian sunshine.

There is of course a ton of awesome Amonstro that we had to catch up on — amazing off-the-shoulder tiger face knits, suits plastered with a custom hand-drawn deer print for the gents and adorable chambray onesies with dangling rope belts. Best holy-shit discovery of all though was a shared and undying dedication to tie-dye! So yeah it makes us feel all fuzzy and warm inside to think that there are actual fashion kindred spirits out there, thousands and thousands of internet miles away. And even though they are probably chilling on beaches that are far nicer, sexier and more tropical than we can possibly imagine, with our swirling tie-dye screensavers we are forever one.
