Bowery Ballroom was buzzing with enthusiastic fans in anticipation for Syracuse based Indie rock band Ra Ra Riot. Touring on the heels of their first full length release, Rhumb Line, the band has been blowing up across the country performing on the Conan O'Brien show as well a U.S tour jam packed with sold out shows.
There was already a kinetic energy flowing through this sold out crowd before Ra Ra Riot got on stage and from there it only intensified with the bands stellar stage presence. Lead singer Wesley Mills and the rest of the band powered through a solid set filled with their signature high energy power pop /indie rock. Adding to the catchy melodies was the bands passionate performance that had them dancing around the stage, alternating band members to perform next to, it really showed a band that absolutely loves playing together. They were having so much fun playing on stage that it was impossible to not get drawn in to their irresistible hook laced pop gems.
The big crowd pleasers of the night were "Can You Tell" which had the whole crowd singing along word for word, the infectious first single " Ghost Under Rock" which was absolutely enthralling performed live and "Dying is Fine" which had the crowd jovially bouncing around singing the killer hook of the song. There truthfully wasn't a bad song in the batch; it was a crowd-pleasing performance that showed a band really coming into their own. With the phenomenal reception that their new album is getting and these excellent live performances, this is a band on the fast track to stardom. Be sure to check out this band live in concert, it's pretty great!
