Ex-Verbena front man A.A. Bondy will be kicking off his long-anticipated headlining tour next week. Despite opening sold-out tours for Bon Iver, Cold War Kids, The Felice Brothers and more, this marks the first time the Fat Possum recording artist will be headlining his own tour. In celebration we’re offering up his beautifully haunting rendition of an old Blind Willie McTell song.
The track “You Got To Die” is a previously unreleased song that was recorded by Bondy earlier this year at a Daytrotter Session. According to Bondy, it’s “a very old song. I know it from a record called The Devil Can’t Hide From Me by Blind Willie McTell. He says his mother would sing it so must be over 100 years old.”
