Get Up Kids Get Up And Reunite

Do you hear that? Yes, it's the churning of the internet rumor mill. This time the speculations are all about a possible Get Up Kids reunion -- and now they can come to a halt. The guys will play their first gig together this Sunday at Record Bar in their hometown of Kansas City, Missouri.

Guitarist/singer Matt Pryor said the idea came after talks with the band's label, Vagrant, about putting together a 10th anniversary edition of Something to Write Home About, the band's most popular record. "Then we thought, 'Hey, we should play some shows.' This summer we got everybody on-board. Then we basically told a bunch of people about it and then denied it, just to be contary."

Pryor also said that initially the plan was to hold off on the gig until next year. "But we decided it'd be funny if we just showed up and played a show," he said. "We thought about doing it Thanksgiving, like, 'Hey, we all happen to be home for Thanksgiving,' but that didn't work out."

Sunday's show will be the first time the band has performed together since July of 2005.
