Audio: Blank Dogs, “The Other Way”
- story THE FADER
Back in 2001, when underground rappers Cannibal Ox put out The Cold Vein, every critic used the word “soundscapes” to talk about their music. It happened so much that we overdosed on the word as well as the concept of their music or anyone else’s music as something that you could walk around in and supposedly live in. Basically it’s a cool idea that should not be overdone. Which brings us to the mask-obsessed Blank Dogs, who is actually making one-man songs with a million keyboards and synthesizers that we can safely call soundscapes. “The Other Way” is under two minutes of swirling fuzz pop, less goth parade and more One-Last-Beer-at-6am-as-the-Halloween-Party-is-Winding-Down. The song is from The Fields, which is out now on Woodsist.
