Although this song was originally recorded in 2005 in Toronto with Broken Social Scene producer David Newfeld, it seems most of the world is just now coming around to hearing the album it came from, the Stars & Suns Sessions—maybe because we decided to include the band in our Mexico City Rock story from FADER 51, maybe the world was just sleeping. Who knows? Chikita Violenta have decided to take advantage of all the new attention by putting together this new video for “Laydown” with director Pablo Dávila, who edited together old 8mm reels found in bandmember Andrés “Guero” Velasco’s grandmother’s closet with brand new 8mm-looking footage of the band and all the folks from the original films, which just so happens to be exactly what happens in the season finale of Lost tonight as well.
