NYC: James Brown Re-Funked
- story THE FADER
The specialist vinyl imprint GAMM was started by clubhead (and former Swedish breakdance champ!) Mad Mats a few years ago, and the label has remained the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval for forward-thinking DJs ever since. GAMM’s funkily clever flips and re-edits from the likes of Freddie Cruger, Beatconductor, and Tangoterje have become unlikely crate essentials, and their latest project, a four-volume (!!!) 12-inch tribute to James Brown called “Doin James,” is no exception – you can grab the vinyl here, or at your favorite trusty n dusty record emporium. This Tuesday in NYC, the whole crew celebrates with a “Doin James” party at APT featuring Freddie, Mats, FADER friend and contributor DJ Ayres, and more. Full flyer after the jump – get down, get into it, get involved.
