The Best Album of the Two Weeks We Weren’t at Work

January 05, 2009

Whilst sipping (chugging) wine and collecting our thoughts over the holiday break, we continued to pore over music we'd missed in 2008 and that which has yet to see the light of day in 2009. We were having a pretty good time listening to songs without having to think too much about what we thought about them, and then, that fat hippie Santa dropped Animal Collective's Merriweather Post Pavilion down the chimney on Christmas day.

Of course, we'd had a copy of the album in the office for a month or so prior to even leaving for break, but few of us had the opportunity to, say, loop it for five hours while icing gingerbread cookies or dance to "My Girls" nine times in a row on New Year's Eve. Vacation provided us these opportunities, and thusly, The FADER is proud to announce Merriweather Post Pavilion as the Greatest Album of December 20th, 2008 to January 5th, 2009 and we give it a perfect score of 10.0 but only for that period. Tomorrow it comes out on double LP along with a download code directly from Domino or wherever you buy records. May 2009 bring many competitors to its crown.
