We’re not really sure why rumor news is exciting to people since it’s totally unsubstantiated, but we’re not one to pass up on the opportunity to report on things that might happen. So forget rumors, we will be the first to confirm that Blur, Faith No More (reunited) and Morrissey are playing the 2009 installment of Southern California’s biggest music festival. Just don’t credit us, credit Consequence Of Sound.
This year’s Coachella Festival, much like last, has the internet ablaze with line-up rumors, with crazed fans taking things a step further on the festival’s message board, going as far as to contact bands directly for confirmation.
At the forefront of this year’s rumor mill are scores of potential summer blockbuster acts, including previously rumored Britney Spears. But while big acts like Animal Collective, Basement Jaxx, the Black Keys, Four Tet, Glasvegas, José González, Outkast, the White Stripes and one Neil Young have been rumored, we’re going to say right now, the big announcements will be the reunion of Faith No More, Blur and Morrissey (who turned down a reported multi-million dollar offer in ’08). And even if we’re wrong, you can still definitively count on seeing the following confirmed acts.
Confirmed Artists: The Airborne Toxic Event, The Bug, Buraka Som Sistema, Crystal Castles, Drop The Lime, Fleet Foxes, Flying Lotus, Girl Talk, The Hold Steady, The Killers, No Age, Noah and the Whale, Late of the Pier, Los Campesinos!, Peanut Butter Wolf, The Presets, Sébastien Tellier, Themselves and Tinariwen.
