In the past 365 days, both Hot Chip and Animal Collective embarked on ridiculously huge megatours, and both groups picked openers that could potentially alienate the shit out of huge swaths of their respective audiences. Hot Chip brought the choppy, droney twin guitar assault of Growing to stadiums everywhere, and AC brought Blues Control, who are more content to create wavy-arm ambient music than songs with an actual structure, kind of like early Animal Collective. Before you know it, Excepter will be opening for Chris Brown at MSG.
