Shepard Fairey To Appear On Charlie Rose Tonight

Charlie Rose is one of our favorite interviewers. The late-night PBS show that bears his name easily has the most varied repertoire of personalities of any interview show on TV, and each interview is conveyed intelligently, entertainingly and more importantly, comfortably. He's like a Larry King that doesn't give us the creeps. And tonight he sits down with the poster-child (literally) of pop art, Shepard Fairey, to discuss his meteoric rise to commercial success following the now-iconic Obama poster image.

Who would've thought that nearly 15 years after André the Giant Has a Posse that the one-time skateboarding graphics man would be creating presidential posters and making the late-night (albeit PBS late-night) circuit? It should be no surprise to us, since his work has been included in collections at The Smithsonian, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, but for some reason it still seems rather surreal.

Surreal or not, you can catch Sheppard and Charlie hash it out on tonight's episode, which will also feature Pulitzer Prize winning author John Updike.
