What? You thought The Soft Pack started this name changing game? Phantogram can do them one better — they were actually signed to Sub-Bombin Records under the name Charlie Everywhere before changing it.
Tirvial knowledge aside, Phantogram is the collaboration of artists Josh Carter and Sarah Barthel and self describe themselves as “a culmination of unique urban influenced rhythms, and psychedelic melodies, with combined technology and organic textures.” Besides loving white people who refer to hip-hop as “urban influenced rhythm,” we have to give them a nod for recently being signed to BBE and for citing influences that range from the late great J Dilla to My Bloody Valentine. Which is a pretty good summation for the track “Mouthful Of Diamonds”.
