As our New York days get warmer at an excruciatingly slow pace, we take any hint of spring that we can get. Did you see that blade of grass growing out of that block of ice? In the chilly meantime until thaw, The Coathangers from Atlanta sound like real heat from the muggy South. “Stop Stomp Stompin’” is from their upcoming album, out April 7th on Suicide Squeeze, of raw garage grit, Scramble, and recalls equal parts X-Ray Spex, Bikini Kill and Black Lips. But they’re a punk step away from riot grrl and are probably the kind of women who probably tell you to shotgun it rather than savor it. If they’ll even talk to you in the first place.
