Planningtorock To Collaborate With The Knife On Darwin Opera And Perform Live Rendition Of Her Upcoming (DFA?) Release

Maybe it's because sometimes she likes to wear helmets on stage too, but Olof & Karin Dreijer from The Knife have invited UK-by-way-of-Germany artist Planningtorock to help co-write their opera about Darwin, which will debut this September in Copenhagen. And that's only the beginning of her plans for 2009.

On April 30, Planningtorock will perform a brand new live show featuring music taken from her forthcoming album, which has no formal release date or label at this point, but rumors are circulating that it will be coming out in the U.S. on DFA. Entitled "Black Thumber", the show will be co-produced by the Donau Festival and is said to give the audience an "unique sneak preview of the new record." We're not sure if the record will be titled Black Thumber or if that's a reference of another kind, but you can see a video preview for the performance below.

Planningtorock has also collaborated with Shit Robot for his new record and she is currently rehearsing with the Berlin Haus Der Kultur Choir for a special one-off performance as part of the Pictoplasma Festival on April 23.

That's all we got for now, but we're promised more information about the new record and subsequent tour around the end of May.
