Jeremy Enigk, former frontman of Sunny Day Real Estate and Fire Theft, is continuing life on the solo road. After releasing two well-received solo albums, the singer/songwriter is ready to put out his latest -- OK Bear -- so we are streaming the first single off of the forthcoming album, "Life's Too Short".
OK Bear is set for release on May 12 on Enigk's own label, Lewis Hollow Recordings. The album is a strong representation of the evolution Enigk has made through his solo career, backing away from the orchestral feel of his two prior albums, Frog Queen, and World Waits, but as "Life's Too Short" shows, Enigk has not abandoned his his ability to write dynamically clenching melodies.
Explaining the new sound he has displayed on OK Bear, Enigk said, “Over the years I have really pushed a more polished sound enveloped in a big reverb. I really started to miss some of the qualities of my earlier recordings where the vocals were right in your face. So this was a goal.” And a seemingly accomplished goal it is, having a concise, clearer sound than before, as exemplified by "Life's too Short".
