Amidst working on a new Pearl Jam record and headlining major music festivals this summer, it’s been discovered that bassist Jeff Ament was attacked outside the band’s recording studio at the end of April. The assailants made off with over $7,000 in assets and left Ament with a head laceration that was medically treated.
According to Rolling Stone -- who obtained the police report filed -- three perpetrators each wielding knives as weapons and wearing masks ambushed Ament and a band employee as they pulled up to the back of recording studio complex Southern Tracks in Atlanta. The trio destroyed the windows of Ament’s vehicle before chasing him around and knocking him on the floor, leaving the laceration.
As reported, the thieves made off with $3,000 in cash and over $4,000 worth of goods, as well as a Blackberry and Ament’s passport. While the attack was recorded on a nearby surveillance camera, no arrests have been made, and the band has yet to comment. We wish a pox on these horrendous individuals and wish Ament a speedy recovery.
