Of the numerous and ultimately disappointing Dipset offshoot groups, Jim Jones’ Byrdgang is easily the most dependable for the next “you-got-hear-this-dude’s-mixtape” candidates. Once boasting both Stack Bundles and Max B, Jimmy’s coup now has NOE, who at one time sounded so much like Jay-Z that people thought Jimmy had dug up some lost Jigga verses when they left NOE’s name off an early Byrdgang mixtape. These days he still sounds a little like Jay, but it’s much easier to ignore when you’re looking at a stocky, drealocked dude from Baltimore saying things like, I’m the shit, flow smelling like my wind broke.
