National Geographic‘s music page currently features a mini-documentary on the making of Taken By Tree‘s (aka Victoria Bergsman, formerly of the Concretes) forthcoming album, recorded in Pakistan. Bergsman wanted to record her album in an unconventional setting and to “create an artistic environment that transcended the clinical ambience of modern recording studios.” She got that and much more in Pakistan, where she had to battle with spotty electricity and prevalent sexism. The album, titled East of Eden, will be released in August; check out the documentary here.
