Taken By Trees Goes to Pakistan, Watches Waves

Victoria Bergsman, known best for her 11 year stint as the voice of The Concretes and a guest turn on Peter Bjorn and John's "Young Folks," turned solo in 2006, calling herself Taken By Trees. With her new solo album East Of Eden flying to shelves September 8th and available for pre-order here, National Geographic made a video in which Bergsman discusses record’s production in some tall grass. Pakistan was the setting, incorporating local musicians and "the sounds of birds and insects and things." She mentions that what started off as a quest to create music in free of recording studio limitations, ended up uncovering gender boundaries that made it impossible for her to include local female musicians as she had initially hoped. The resulting video, called "Watch The Waves" and displayed above for your viewing pleasure, tells the whole story and gives glimmers of sounds that are sure to appear on the album. Hear the first song from the album over at Gorilla Vs Bear.
