RIP Les Paul

Les Paul, known best for his work on the solid-body electric guitar and his line of Gibson guitars, passed away today in White Plains, NY of complications of pneumonia at the age of 94. A native of Waukesha, Wisconsin, Paul began his music career as a Chicago jazz and country guitarist, though quickly making the transition to inventing. Aside from hugely progressive work on electric guitars themselves, he was also an innovator in multi-track recording and recorded “Lover (When You’re Near Me)” by himself on eight multi-tracked guitar parts.
