Jonathan Demme No Longer Directing Bob Marley Documentary

Jonathan Demme has dropped out of directing Marley, the upcoming documentary exploring the life and music of reggae legend Bob Marley, reportedly due to producer Steve Bing's lack of enthusiasm over the director's first round of edits. Martin Scorsese was originally slated to direct the documentary, due to be released on February 6, which would be the superstar's 65th birthday, but had to pass due to "scheduling conflicts." The documentary has been authorized by Marley's family, and Marley's son, Ziggy Marley, the film's executive producer, told the BBC that he was "excited" to work with the former Silence of the Lambs director.

Whether Demme's departure from the film will delay its scheduled release remains unknown, and calls to Bing and Demme went unreturned.
