Sly Stone Reveals Financial Problems in Interview

In his first interview in over 20 years, musical legend and innovator Sly Stone revealed that he is living on Social Security checks following contractual disputes with his former manager, Jerry Goldstein. According to Stone, Goldstein has ceased to honor a contract written in the late 80s, which gave Goldstein the rights to Stone's music for "payment of fixed expenses and costs." Stone apparently lacks sufficient funds to hire lawyers to go after Goldstein, and he has been shuttling between campers and cheap hotels, surviving month-to-month on welfare checks. In a sad twist, Stone revealed that Michael Jackson had commissioned him to write songs for his planned comeback album, which Stone hoped would relieve his financial difficulties.
