Contest: Win Tickets to Outside Lands in San Francisco

If you’re in the San Francisco area, or just really want to go for a long drive to see three days of music, then you are in luck because we’ve got a small handful of tickets to give away to Outside Lands, also known as the festival that has A WINERY SHOWCASE CALLED WINEHAVEN. But you’re not there for just the wine, you want to see the music, including but not limited to: Deerhunter, Bat for Lashes, Extra Golden, Os Mutantes, Band of Horses, M.I.A., Modest Mouse and like a billion more. There’s also the headliners: Pearl Jam, Tenacious D, Tom Jones (unclear on why or how but sure why not), and Dave Matthews, who, on a personal level, we are not especially amped on, but since we’re mentioning him anyway we’d like to direct you to this fascinating GQ Q+A by former FADER editor Will Welch, in which Matthews’ appeal is finally explained. Anyway! Hit us in the comment section of this post if you want to win, and remember to use a real email address so we can actually hook you up with tickets.

    I want tickets please…

I was born in San Fran.

Jumped on stage with MIA @ all 3 of her concerts I’ve been to and I would love to make an attempt once again. I’m up in Vancouver BC and I would gladly drive or fly down for this.

    Thanks,

    Andi.

Hi, I live in LA and I NEED to get to this festival. I went last year and it was the most amazing experience right in the heart of the city. The economy has me down right now, but that will not keep me from seeing Portugal The Man, Bat For Lashes, & The Dead Weather. Maybe it will help pick my spirits up. Please help in any way you can. Even a one day ticket for Saturday would be overwhelming. Cheers!

I just moved back to the bay area from the boring, non musical state of New Mexico and it would be really amazing to be able to go to Outside Lands and check out one of my must see acts ever, BAT FOR LASHES!!! The rest of the lineup has some of my faves on it too like M.I.A., Band of Horses, TV on the Radio and The Mars Volta! This would be awesome to compare to Coachella which I’ve been for the past 4 years and would make an amazing experience for someone who wants to take in some Bay Area! Will you be setting up a Fader Fort?! ; )Thanks FADER!!!

  43. Maria Says:

    yesssss

  44. Jon Says:

I would love to me considered for a pair of tix, and here’s my plea:

Living down here in Los Angeles, “it’s not unusual” for us to make the drive to Coachella, but I’d rather drive up to NorCal on a Band of Horses or a Silversun Pickup to get a change of Atmosphere—even if it is Dead Weather. And driving sure beats flying there with an Extra Golden, Albino, Blind Pilot that’s hell-bent on dropping Dirtbombs on Mastadons in the Mystic Valley. And though soaring with the Dodo’s is a plus, I fear the Midnite landing even if there is a Big Light on the Groundation, but I digress.

Speaking of digression, I was on such a Morning Bender the other day that I actually watched TV on the Radio. I really must Ween myself off the Tea Leaf Green vodka. It comes in those new Built to Spill containers made by Autolux and is sold rather cheaply by the Thievery Corporation. I recommend drinking it in moderation though. Once I over imbibed while working as a Street Sweeper in Portugal, and I caught Dengue Fever from a bunch of Heartless Bastards trying to Cage the Elephant with a Modest Mouse on Orleans Ave.

Sorry to go M.I.A. on you there; my flights of fancy can be a Mofro. I just want to show a little bit of the Duke Spirit, and take my friend Lila Downs to the Sambada dance off where she an I might get Kinky with a West Indian Girl. I mean, if Matt & Kim can do it with Bettye LaVette, why can’t we do it with Lenka? I’m no Incubus, but I think I might lure her away from that Deerhunter, Ryan Bingham, with a bowl of Black-eyed Peas. Plus, if I have tickets to the Outside Lands Festival, she might like to see DMB, Pearl Jam, The Mars Volta or Tenacious D. I sure would.

Thank you for your consideration. :)

  45. Jonathan King Says:

I’m a bit past my festival-going peak — I went to Monterey Pop when I was 17, but four decades later I’m not nearly as tuned in to what’s going on musically as I was when younger. Fortunately for me, my 16-year-old daughter has amazing musical taste, and turns me on to some really interesting sounds … something I wouldn’t have thought possible just on the basis of the shlock that gets played on the radio. There really is a ferment in popular music these days that I’d completely overlooked. It would be marvelous to go to this event with her: she really needs to be exposed to a range of live musics (she’s mostly plugged into iTunes), I really need to get my ears blown open, and we could both stand to have some quality dad/daughter time that doesn’t involve homework. Thanks for considering this pitch…

  46. Stephen M.H. Braitman Says:

The guy above me. What he said.

  47. Sasha Says:

  48. Murph Says:

Should be a sweet show. Settling for Street Scene as of now…

  49. Ashley Hardisty Says:

Well–not sure if you’ve given away the tics, but as a working mom (married to a working dad) who used to get out regularly to see live music, I now wish I could have saved the $ to take my husband up to SF for this upcoming, amazing weekend of incredible music. I LOVE Modest Mouse, Pearl Jam, The Dead Weather, Thievery Corporation and Tenacious D. My husband recently got into Dengue Fever. This would be a dream weekend for us…no kids (we love em, but come on–everyone needs to rock out), 3 days of music, and time to enjoy it together! I hope I have a shot at these…you’d make my entire year!

Shouting to you from the CO. I would love to take another trip out there and rock out where people know how to. Much love if you could help bring the funk into my life. Amazing line-up btw! I must see!!!!
    Thanks guys!

  76. Criselda Says:

Wine and Live music! Please pick me! Ooh ooh, me! Pick me! Two of my favorite things in life, and you fabulous, wonderful, sexy people at Fader are just giving it away… My boyfriend told me about this contest, and I just had to enter. Like everybody else who entered(hopefully), we can’t afford the tickets this time. We’ve seen Pearl Jam and Autolux(opened for Elvis Costello) before, and they were both awesome. My boyfriend took me to Dave Matthews before, but I don’t think I had enough wine— he likes them, though. And while I may lose cool points for admitting this, I’d love to see Jason Mraz and Black Eyed Peas. Maybe I’ll get some cool points back if I admit that I like Thievery Corporation and Bats For Lashes, and being a huge Bright Eyes Fan, Conor Oberst would definitely be watched. Plus, my boyfriend is really into the Silversun Pickups, Ween, Mars Volta and anything Jack White, so you beautiful people would be making two people ridiculously happy. So, please pick me! Thank you for the give away and your time.

  77. Matthew Says:

I’d be happy to make fun of Dave Matthew’s fans and report back if that would be helpful. Any other business that needs attending to I am game for as well.

  78. philip Says:

i would love to go to outside lands

  79. Lisbeth Says:

i literally live ACROSS THE STREET. I couldn’t go last year because I couldn’t afford it…and alas, again, it is too pricy. I would love to see so many of these bands. I even went jogging today at the track, and theyre already setting everything up..had to dodge equipment!

  80. JB Says:

I would really appreciate a pair of tickets to Outside Lands, please. It’s easy driving distance, I already have the weekend off, and I have friends I could stay with. Thank you.

  91. Lisa Says:

I have been dying to go to Outside Lands this year, but as a single mother who was laid off recently there is no way I can afford to go on my own. I am really especially interested in Day 3!!! Modest Mouse, Atmosphere, Vanderslice, MIA and Tenacious D!! Please choose me to go and I will give you the best PR of your life at this show and beyond. Thank you.

  92. halley g Says:

So everyone I know is going to burning man. Which is just ridiculous. This leaves me alone in the city to do as I please, and what please to do is go to outside lands solo and make new friends that are not freaky deaky.
    If I don’t win I nominate michael m.

  93. crystal Says:

Hey, thanks for posting this offer.
Originally I wanted to go to Outside Lands to see Incubus. It’s their only date closer to SF than Santa Barbara. Unfortunately, I can’t afford tickets, but it would really be an honor to go and see this incredible lineup. A lot of the openers are pretty damn bad-ass. I would be ever so grateful if you could hook it up for a student saving up for college. Thank you!
