Oh No, “Concentrate/The Funk” MP3
- story Sam Hockley-Smith
Like us, you’ve probably jammed the shit out of pretty much every Ethiopiques compilation you happen to come across because they sound more or less like the soundtrack to a life spent entirely in silk pajamas. In fact, most Ethiopian music comes off so effortlessly laid-back and cool that it can soundtrack a movie that we actually liked that pretty much consisted of Bill Murray driving around for two hours. Oh No clearly feels the same way, because he’s mined all sorts of Ethiopian records that we’ve never heard for the currently digital-only Ethiopium. Based on the sample tracks below, the album actually would go better with the Ethiopian coffee Stones Throw is recommending you buy along with it. They’re also recommending that you play the record with “some local greenery.” If that’s your thing, go in, just be careful about mixing those uppers and downers.

Oh, yeah! All those tons of other Ethiopiques compilations I’ve listened to throughout my life!
