Remember how Ryan Adams was quitting music, then decided not to, then married Mandy Moore. Well, to add to a long string of seemingly unrelated acts, Adams will begin his Artist in Residency today at the Morrison Hotel in New York City. The show, which will feature a new collection of paintings by a man who has written albums about Winona Ryder, Parker Posey and, hopefully, someday soon, the lovely Mandy, will open to the public tomorrow, with all proceeds from the auction go to the Housing Works Bookstore Café, the homeless AIDS crisis organization that recently hosted the Bjork-Dirty Projectors collaboration. Never one to stop, look around and take a minute to just "chill," Adams will also appear at the New York Public Library (y'all didn't think he could read, did ya?) on Friday September 25th, where he will discuss poetry, fiction and his new book Hello Sunshine with....wait for it....wait for it...Mary-Louise Parker, who you may know as that milf who smokes and sells a lot of weed on Showtime. Tickets to the "you must be reallllly high" to attend event are $25, or $15 library donors, students, seniors with valid identification and anyone who brings a batch of sour diesel spacecakes.
