“Thank you, thank you, thank you, you’re far too kind…” is what Alicia Keys might be thinking after the Lil Mama bumrush earlier this month, because just as she appeared to have a slight case of Memento when titling her 2007 LP “As I Am," Swizz Beatz's on-the-low girlfriend has now unveiled the name of her new solo project: ”The Element of Freedom.”
Bruce Willis “SNL” skits aside (RIP “MadTV”), Alicia has decided to change things up a bit…she went from “Songs in A Minor” to “The Diary of Alicia Keys” and then “As I Am” to ----> “The Element of Freedom...?” Well, as the following weeks come and go, we’re sure to get more information on the motivation behind the interesting title (could it be a sign for a troubled/estranged husband? – cough cough).
The fourth solo project will be helmed by the new single “Doesn’t Mean Anything” and will land in your iTune players (if record label executives can avoid leaking it themselves) on the confirmed release date of December 1st, according to Singersroom.
Only time will tell if Alicia still has it in her….from shocking fans in ’01 with her long-hidden talent for the piano and singing, to making the blogosphere ‘Go Crazy’ (Jeezy!) shortly afterward with the Les-Bi-Honest rumors and continuing to pack in hit after hit even to the point of taking scraps from Hollywood (via “Smokin’ Aces” and “Secret Life of Bees”)…ol’ girl might just have the “Keys” to freedom after all. -Cyrus Kyle Langhorne
