Model 500, “Huesca” MP3

September 28, 2009

It's been 27 years since Juan Atkins, with his partner in Cybotron, Rick Davis, released "Clear", an electro song notable for many things, not the least of which that it was sampled ten million billion times. A few years later, on his own as Model 500, Atkins released his "No UFOs" 12-inch, widening the burgeoning genre of Detroit techno he began. The godfather has continued recording under various names since then, but it's always been Model 500 that has held heaviest weight, almost three decades deep. He just continues to knock. New track, "Huesca," makes no steps back, darkening his bass and picking up his pace before opening the song up to a fairly joyous chord workout. Little White Earbuds has this track via Fabric, the UK club where Atkins undoubtedly demolished their brutal soundsystem this weekend.
