Watch out, Los Angeles, two shows of epic importance are touching down in your city next week: on October 4 and 5 at the Orpheum Theatre, Thom Yorke will be performing with his new solo band, featuring Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea, Yorke's production collaborators Nigel Godrich and Joey Waronker, and multi-instrumentalist Mauro Refosco. According to Yorke, the group came together "for fun" to work on new songs as well as on tracks from his 2006 solo album, The Eraser. "We don't really have a name and the set will not be very long cuz .. well .. we haven't got that much material yet," he wrote on Radiohead's website.
Local band Lucky Dragons will open the show, which promises to feature current Yorke solo work, including "Feeling Pulled Apart by Horses" and "The Hollow Earth," tracks recently released on 12-inch vinyl. Another new song, "Hearing Damage," is slated to appear on the New Moon soundtrack.
