A couple months ago Calvin Harris‘ new album became England’s biggest seller and frankly some of us in the States didn’t get it, because like, is he pop? Techno? Rave rock? Performance artist? What is the average/mainstream Brit even into? We asked some of our English friends, watched some concert videos where a million people went CRAYZEEE for Calvin, then listened to the album and came to our final conclusion: this song. “Flashback.” Kind of indelible? Best track on the album, amazing for spin class, mom would like it but it’s triumphant sounding enough for 4 AM. So what if Harris singing reminds us of Rick Astley because you know what? Everyone actually likes Rick Astley but won’t admit it. The video for it is like being somewhat well off, going to a beach party where there are only hot people, drinking champagne and forgetting half of it. (via RWD)
