Michael Buble Outsells the New Moon Soundtrack

This past summer we walked past a horde of girls on NYU's campus, hundreds of tweeners gathering around not to receive us with compliments on this impossibly funny Jack White post we had written earlier that day, but to instead catch a glimpse of Robert Pattinson/Edward Cullen, the Twilight series' lead heartthrob. The experience was unsettling but it also gave us hope: if all of those girls bought its sequel's soundtrack, then think of just how many ears might hear Bon Iver or even Thom Yorke for the first time! Well, something weird happened again. That Oprah-approved, cherub-faced Michael Buble stormed the charts instead last week, outselling the New Moon soundtrack by almost double, 203,000 units to the latter's 115,000. This should clear up a few things, namely just how powerful Oprah continues to be and the fact that our parents still buy CDs. That's who listens to Michael Buble, right? (via RS)
