Freedy Johnston Returning From Musical Hibernation

Freedy Johnston admittedly looks more like a hybrid between game show host/tech company CEO than a singer songwriter. But Wikipedia will indeed prove he is the latter, and a mighty fine one at that. Or at least he was, until he sort of fell off the face of the Earth for the last eight years. But now, the man best known for his 1994 hit "Bad Reputation" that sort of hauntingly played over the abrupt ending and credits for Kicking and Screaming (no, not the Will Ferell one) is back with his first album in nearly a decade. Rain On The City will see a January 10 release. As you might expect from such a title, Johnston's tales, often dealing with loneliness, heartbreak and other sources of general dude blues, may not exactly get you out of a midday funk. But the man can surely paint a picture with his words. (Via: Daily Swarm)
